Social Media Change

Social Media really has taken the world by storm over the past few years and has really blown up. Social media is almost in my opinion the center point of the United States. It has changed the way we communicate in a huge way. Social media is the main form of communication with today’s generations.  It allows people to get into contact with others that they may not have been able to without social media. If you don’t have someone’s phone number you may have their snapchat or there Facebook and can reach out and communicate through there. I feel like it also forces people to talk to each other more because you see a post from that person on social media and you decide to leave a comment or reach out to them because you are curious and want to know more. Versus, before social media you couldn’t do that because it wasn’t even a possibility. Social media is also unique in ways you can keep up with your favorite celebrates and see when they tweet when they are releasing a new song or album. Or when you follow your favorite clothing store on Instagram and see their new merchandise coming out and when it comes out. There are many benefits to using social media but there are also down falls if you post something you didn’t mean to and it can really hurt you.

Although I do not agree with the way our president tweets what he tweets I do agree and like the way he uses twitter. It keeps everybody interested and he realized that social media is a huge part of today’s society so he uses it to his advantage, he adapted to the surroundings. As Amanda Wills and Alysha Love show in there article you can see every single tweet from the president, http://www.cnn.com/interactive/2017/politics/trump-tweets/ . Everyone follows Donald Trump and wants to see what he will say next versus before you had to read the newspaper or watch TV. Now you can just keep up with him through social media and it is very beneficial in my opinion.

Mandy Edwards states in her article how she thinks social media has changed the way we communicate, https://fowmedia.com/social-media-changed-communicate/ . She elaborates on how now people can know each other without even meeting them because of their social media profiles. When back in the day the only way you knew someone is you met them face to face. Another point she makes is it has created people to not have a filter when they talk through social media, grammar is bad, writing is abbreviated and summarized.

On the other side of the coin social media can be a bad thing in my view. You might be a very social person on social media but when it comes to real life talking and interacting with people you might be awkward because you only live through your phone.
