This story about Anthony Weiner was very interesting and
something that I have never heard of before. With social media, today it isn’t surprising
to hear stories like this because once something happens the first place it
goes to is twitter or Facebook. Part of Public official’s jobs is to be active
on social media and let everyone know what is going on. With that comes a blue
check mark next to their name meaning that their account is verified. That
means that everything is coming directly from them. Part of the problem with
social media is once you start getting attention on it you get accustomed to
that and feel like you need it all the time. That was part of Anthony Weiner’s
problem he was direct messaging girls before and while he was married and it
eventually led him to a divorce and the loss of his job. With social media in today’s
world you can’t hide anything from anyone, especially if you are in office and
you are monitored so closely. Weiner was then caught sexting with a 15-year-old
girl and it cost him 21 well deserved months in federal prison.
When I first read all the info about Anthony Weiner and
found out how he was DMing girls, sexting, lost his job and even got a divorce
the first person that popped into my head was Tiger Woods for doing similar
things. Tiger cheated on his wife with over 12 girls and was always seeking
attention from someone new and it eventually led to him getting a divorce and
hurting his golfing career. Attached I have a list of texts that tiger was
sending one of his side girls Joslyn James, http://www.businessinsider.com/16-raunchy-text-messages-tiger-woods-sent-to-joslyn-james-2010-3.
I feel that today with social media it only hurts relationships because your
always wrapped up in if they are posting about you enough or whose pictures are
they liking and it’s just too hard to be in a relationship if you have trust
issues with your partner. In the article I have attached it goes in detail on
all of the problems social media can create on a relationship, https://www.hercampus.com/love/relationships/5-ways-social-media-hurting-your-relationship.
