Reflection on Social Media Case 8: Pastor's 10% to God

This is a very interesting case study because this is a problem that seems to come up a lot. I actually feel like you should not go out to eat if you aren’t prepared to leave a tip. I agree if the service is bad that is one thing but other than that I feel like leaving a tip for your server should be mandatory. People feel like it is optional to leave a tip. I feel like when servers are doing their job and the service isn’t bad it is a slap in the face to them when you don’t leave a tip because they are working and serving to you and when you don’t pay someone it appears that they are your slave doing it for free. I think that there is no problem with the server posting this online and I don’t think that she should have been fired for it. The pastor did have the right to be upset but it was also very disrespectful of him to cross out the tip and then put “$0,” and that was her point when posting it to show that servers aren’t getting the respect they deserve. Based off of that you would see why servers getting tips is necessary or it is almost impossible to survive. They say people should tip anywhere from 10-20% so I feel that we should just meet in the middle and the restaurant or bar should just automatically include a 15% gratuity that is mandatory to pay. At the end of the day I think that the receipt being posted online is both of their faults. The pastor was upset because his reputation was ruined because of this and the waitress was upset because she got fired for posting this online. I think that it is both of their faults though because this would have never been posted if he just left a tip in the first place or talked with someone about what he was upset about and didn’t leave a note on the receipt.
