When I first saw this commercial my thought was very surprising
that people let them post this. This is a company in America that is posting a commercial
about one of the biggest if not the biggest tragedy in Americas past time. I’m
just confused as to what positivity or business this could create to the
company. At the end of the day they ended up having to close down after the commercial.
This is just such a touchy subject I don’t even understand why they would want
to even post a commercial like this, who was in charge to let this happen? I
read that they did this to stand out from their competition, and they did, just
for the wrong reasons. I personally do not think the business should have been
shut down because in the end they hurt themselves so much they were going to
lose business anyways and everyone makes mistakes. It doesn’t make the commercial
right but not everyone is perfect.
I have attached a link to the top offensive commercials, http://www.cracked.com/article_24122_6-insane-messages-in-completely-banal-commercials.html.
A lot of these were also very offensive commercials that I am again surprised at
how someone let them post them but also, I don’t feel that any of them are as
bad as this miracle mattress commercial. I just feel like the with the history
behind this (9/11) it is just too sensitive of a subject to even joke about. Aside
from these commercials I feel that one of the worst Ads I’ve seen is the
H&M ad. I have post the link of the ad and the kid in the Ad, https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/arts-and-entertainment/wp/2018/01/19/hm-faced-backlash-over-its-monkey-sweatshirt-ad-it-isnt-the-companys-only-controversy/?utm_term=.8ebff910eb3e
. It is a picture of a little African-American kid in a long sleeve shirt that
says, “coolest monkey in the jungle.” I felt this was very offensive because
today in America there is a lot of controversy with racism. Then for H&M to
go and release this I thought it was very uncalled for.
Good job Dylan!
